The axons of myelinated neurons are embedded in a protective covering of?

they're actually covered with a myelin sheath. this sheath breaks at points called nodes of ranvier. i think that's a poorly phrased question (not saying you came up with it). given the answers, i would say that it is a, schwann cells, because they also line the shaft of the neuron as they are part of the myelin sheath.
